Product designing is all about designing creative products that will be used by consumers. These products can be housewares, furniture, plastic items, industrial products, digital products etc. Product designer deals with the aesthetics, durability and the usability of the product.

Product Design is often confused with Industrial Design.  Product designing is a  subset of Industrial designing. Product designing deals with designing aspect of the product. For the product designer, it is not mandatory to know the manufacturing process. For Industrial designer knowledge of designing and manufacturing process both are required for mass production of the product. Usually, product designers are not required engineering skills to design products like home decor, housewares, accessories etc. Product designers don't work on technical functionalities of the product. The industrial designer uses engineering designs or product designs to develop industrial products like Laptops, Phone, appliances etc.
